Innovative Converged Devices have confirmed that they are set to release
what they term as a low cost tablet in 2010 in the form of the ICD
Vega Tablet which as well as running Android 2.0 " the same OS as the
Motorola Droid, incidentally – will also feature Nvidia s Tegra
chipset.
Set to become available initially with a 15.6 display, with 11 and 7
models also set to be made available, the ICD Vega Tablet is detailed
as supporting 3G and 802.11 b/g WiFi connectivity as well as Bluetooth
2.1, whilst also packing an integrated 1.3 megapixel webcam, dual
microphones, 512MB RAM, 512MB of NAND flash memory and an accelerometer
as well as a light sensor (which will act to adapt the screen s
brightness according to ambient lighting conditions) whist, in terms of
storage, the device will purportedly fall back on micorSD cards.
The main draw, however, aside from its high resolution 1366 x 768 262K
color touchscreen display is the employment of Nvidia s Tegra chipset
which, in being a low power solution, means that the ICD Vega Tablet
will apparently offer up to 4 hours endurance based on a full 2 hour charge.
There s no specific word concerning pricing at this juncture though its
expected that the device may be offered with carrier subsidies " though
as yet there s no detail as to whom the carriers may be.
