Future PS3 Firmware to Bring Stereoscopic 3D Sony to Rule 3D World, Playstation 3 Gets 3D Gaming, 3D Movies Soon After

Just when we thought that the PS3 firmware 3.10, which brings Facebook
integration among other goodies, was Sony's latest attempt to get some
attention and possibly new customers, a late night report came in
stating that the company's next firmware upgrade is going to bring 3D
stereoscopic capabilities for the games played on their consoles.
Everything started with a Sony presentation for their investors in which
the company states that all PS3 units will be firmware-upgradeable to
3D , without disclosing an official timeline. Apparently, the big
strategy is that Sony wants to lead the 3D market in the near future,
hence why the company is not only focusing on 3D gaming, but also plans
to bring 3D movies (we'll bet it's Blu-ray related) to the masses.
Of course a new firmware that allows your Playstation 3 to render 3D
imagery would require you to upgrade your HDTV and probably get a new
pair of glasses, but it looks like Sony execs got it covered and their
reports believe that the PS3 will reach profitability before March 2011.
Check out the presentation under the Read link below, but take note
it's a pdf file!
