and in order to properly celebrate the move the company is offering 25
Pixi smartphones to be won just in time for the holidays.
The only logical question is, do you really want a Pixi phone in your
life? In all honesty, the Palm Pre was one of the most sought after
phones in the first half of the year. A lot of people, yours truly
included, thought that the Pre could be the iPhone killer. That never
happen unfortunately and we re still waiting for Palm to conceive a
phone capable to stand proud in front of the iPhone.
The iPhone is a great phone and we expect Cupertino to improve it year
after year. Apple has set some impressive trends in the mobile business
and two of them have completely changed the way we think about our
mobile devices. Apple was the first to introduce a touchscreen user
interface and the App Store. Every regular cell phone maker has been
caught by surprise. And every manufacturer out there realized that Apple
has a hot product, which happens to be phone to beat in the following years.
Naturally I assumed the Pre was going to be the iPhone contender. But
the Pre failed to steal everyone s hearts just like the BlackBerry Storm
did last year. So why should we be interested in the Pixi right now
since Palm s second webOS phone isn t going to be better the Pre.
Don t get me wrong, I am sure the Pixi is a great smartphone. It will
offer you both a multitouch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard along with
various other useful features. But that doesn t make the Pixi stand out
of the crowd, does it? Maybe that s why Palm is aggressively trying to
get your attention and convince you to buy one. Sure it would be nice to
win a Pixi phone, but that doesn t mean you re going to actually use it
much, does it?
The Pixi will arrive soon from Sprint and, unfortunately for our
international readers, the contest is available only to U.S.
participants. All you have to do is sign up for more information about
the Pixi and hope you re going to be one of the lucky 25 winners.
