Google Debuts Android 2.0 Eclair Android 2.0 Eclair Platform Highlights and bit of Motorola Droid, w/ Video

Today, Google have gone official with the new Android 2.0 Eclair.
Bringing major changes over Android 1.6, the Android SDK now brings new
developer APIs for sync, includes multiple Google and Exchange account
support, unified email inbox, two-way contacts sync, macro focus and
integrated flash support for the camera.

Speaking of goodies the new OS comes with a new mobile web browser with
a refreshed UI, support for HTML 5 and its associated video tag (in full
screen) and double tap zoom. There's also a new Bluetooth 2.1 API that
allows peer-to-peer connectivity or gaming for your applications,
there's support for OPP and PBAP profiles, and support for different
display sizes, which means no more issues with smaller displays.

On top of that there's better hardware acceleration for graphics and a
faster way to communicate with others by embedding Quick Contact which
provides instant access to a contact's information and communication modes.

Other than being a powerful operating system for your smartphone,
Android 2.0 Eclair has given rise to speculation about the release of
the Verizon Droid by Motorola tomorrow, since rumors have it that's the
phone they're playing with in Google's video (somewhere at 0:51).
