Archos Archos 9 PC Tablet Gains Release Archos 9 Intel Atom Z Powered PC Tablet Hits Stores at £449.99

I am sure that by now you are more than familiar with Archos, a French
computer maker that has launched quite a few of interesting Internet
Tablets over the years. And since today is Microsoft s Windows 7 day,
the company took the opportunity to announce the Archos 9 PCTablet
officially.

Just in case you re not that familiar with Archos after all, we ll go
through its latest product. The Archos 9 PCTablet is a very good
alternative to netbooks. Those tiny laptops are very useful due to their
portability, but do they really need a physical keyboard? The keys are
smaller than usual and cramped together so why not transform netbooks
into tablets. Everything you need is one touch away and you ll have no
problem writing things down with the virtual keyboard.

The Archos 9 PCTablet is a 9-inch machine that s only 1.7cm thick and
measures just about 800g. So what does it have to offer? The Archos 9
comes with a 9-inch resistive touchscreen display capable of 1,024 x 600
resolution and 1080p full HD video. The tablet can be controlled by
touch but it also comes with an optical trackpoint and buttons which
should make navigation even smoother.

Inside you ll find an Intel Atom Z processor, 1GB of RAM and a 60GB hard
disk drive. If you need more storage space then there s an extra 25GB
waiting for you online in the cloud. The Archos 9 will also offer you
VGA and USB 2.0 connectivity, a 3.5mm jack, Ethernet, 802.11b/g,
Bluetooth 2.1, optional 3G/3.5G connectivity and a 1.3-megapixel camera.

As you can see surfing the Internet seems very easy. Simply find an open
Wi-Fi network, tether your phone via Bluetooth or get a 3G/3.5G dongle
and you ll be online in minutes. Ethernet connectivity is also possible
but who wants cables these days?

Let s only hope that the battery can cope with our mobile needs. The
press release lacks any info regarding the battery features so should we
assume that s the Achilles heel of this Archos 9 PCTablet? If you want
to get it, the tablet is available starting today and it s running
Windows 7. You ll have to pay pound sterling449.99 or around $750 to get
it so once you do buy feel free to praise it or complain about its
features in comments below.
