Various users have reported that when logging in with the guess account,
the personal data contained in their primary account has been lost.
In case you were not aware about the bug itself then we re advising you
again not to log in and out of your Mac using a guest account. In fact
you d better disable it until you get the new update. Guest account
logging might make your personal data placed in your primary account
disappear so it s not something you d want to do yet.
And just to keep your mind at ease, today we re happy to tell you that
Apple has issued a solution for the problem. The third Mac OS X 10.6.2
beta comes with a bunch of features meant to fix QuickTime, iChat, the
guest account issue and other problems.
This isn t the final Mac OS 10.6.2 update but it s the third beta
release which brings quick fixes and reliability improvements to other
programs like iWork, iLife, Aperture, Final Cut Studio, MobileMe, iDisk
and Safari plugins. The beta is also offering a few GraphicsDrivers
which fix OpenCL crashes, a screen flickering issue, and an issue
concerning 1080p content watching with QuickTime Player X.
Sure the most important feature remains the fact that it fixes the bug
mentioned above so you should have no problems letting your friends use
the guest account from now on. Although you could keep it disabled and
create a new dedicated account to be used only by your friends.
The beta is 483.5MB in size so you should get it already. In case you
missed the previous versions then you should get those ones too. The
first build was released after the launch of Snow Leopard and it fixed
printer issues, updated an Adobe Flash Player plug-in and solved a few
Mail-related problems. The second build has fixed about 150 issues so
you ll definitely want to get this one. And in case you spot other
critical problems that require Apple s attention, drop us a line and
tell us about it!
