Nokia. I feel I have to say this because otherwise, by the end of this
post, you might suspect I don t like Nokia at all.
With these in mind, let s move on to Nokia s latest leaked handset or
better said, Internet tablet, the N920. As you can clearly see in the
picture below, the N920 is the successor of the N900 and from what know
so far, the handset comes with a bigger 4.13-inch touchscreen and there
s no keyboard what so ever.
Poor Nokia! The company is definitely feeling the recession. Nokia has
posted its official results for Q3 2009 and things aren t looking that
good. In fact Nokia has suffered a net loss of $833.9 million. Sales are
down 19.8% compared to last year while operating profit is down 57.8%.
Nokia s market share is still around 38% but its handset sales are down
8% as people are slowly moving towards other platforms. With a press
release showing these tremendous numbers it s no wonder that someone
decided to leak the N920.
The new Internet Tablet looks pretty interesting and I wouldn t mind
playing with it. But what will bring it to life? Symbian? Maemo? Which
OS version should we expect? Shouldn t Nokia try something else for a
change? Neither Symbian nor Maemo can truly stand out if compared with
iPhone OS, Android, webOS or Windows Mobile 6.5.
Does Nokia think that the N900, which hasn t seen much success yet, and
the rumored N920 are going to bring lots of cash in? Let s not forget
that other Internet tablets are just around the corner! Not to mention
that there are lots of touchscreen phones available out there that you
should consider before committing to purchasing a Nokia Internet tablet.
As I said above, I am a fan of Nokia and I am still waiting for the
Finnish company to launch a killer phone and get back on the horse. The
N920 might be unveiled only in February 2010 at the Mobile World
Congress, and, on a different note, it might be one of the handsets
rumored to arrive together with T-Mobile s whole Project Black/Dark project.
