posterity, or just to show off to your mates, you ll need a rugged video
camera that can take a good few knock and that, ideally, is waterproofed
and, to that end, you could opt for such as the previously featured
Oregon Scientific ATC3K Waterproof Action Cam Video Camera or, if you
have rather more in the why of disposable income, perhaps the Predator
VX360 Action Camera may appeal.
The Predator VX360 Action Camera, which is billed as being the world's
first fully wearable, waterproof, on-the-fly controllable digital video
system designed specifically for the adventure sports market and which
has been developed by MotionTouch, takes the form of an Eyeball camera
which can be either helmet mounted or worn on the arm (the required
mounting brackets and quick-release neoprene arm band are bundled with
the camera, incidentally) and along with offering shock and impact
resistance additionally boasts waterproofing to depths of up to three
meters.
In terms of video capture capabilities, the Predator VX360, which
utilises a Sony Super HAD CCD sensor, will happily record in both VGA
(640 x 480) and what the company term as TV quality resolutions at up
to 30 frames per second (actually 24fps if recording in VGA) with
footage being recorded directly DS or SDHC memory cards courtesy of an
integrated memory card slot with an 8GB memory card offering up to hours
of video footage. And, if you wish to review recorded footage whilst on
location the inclusion of a 2.4 color LCD display will doubtless be
welcomed.
The Predator VX360 Action Camera comes supplied with, amongst other
things, a removable UV filter/lens protector, the aforementioned
mounting brackets and aerm band, a USB cable, Splitscene video editing
software and, helpfully, a 2GB SD card go get you going straight out of
the box, however, in coming in at around $892 it s far from cheap "
especially when you judge it against the likes of the above mentioned
ATC3K from Oregon Scientific (which is considerably cheaper).
