Details and imagery concerning the new BlackBerry Bold 9700 – or
BlackBerry Onyx as T-Mobile are referring to it – along with
T-Mobile's release timeframe have been leaked offering further
tantalising details concerning RIM's up and coming, and as yet not
officially announced, smartphone.
According to CIO, linked below, who released the details after gaining
them directly from T-Mobile prior to committing to an NDA, the new
Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and UMTS/HSDPA BlackBerry Bold 9700/Onyx, which
is rumoured to come with a 480 x 360 resolution display, a 3.2 megapixel
camera, integrated Bluetooth and Wi-fi (A/B/G) connectivity (some of
which is confirmed below) was detailed by T-Mobile as follows:

The BlackBerry 'Onyx' sports a premium experience and design with a
high-gloss black finish and leather grain detail on the back. Boasting
features such as high-speed 3G Web browsing, Wi-Fi calling, visual
voicemail and support for corporate and personal e-mail options, the
'Onyx' will satisfy all your on-the-go needs. Also the phone comes
preloaded with mobile applications from BlackBerry App World, including
Amazon MP3 store for quick and easy music downloads and TeleNav GPS
Navigator for turn-by-turn directions.

According to the credited report T-Mobile have purportedly confirmed
that the BlackBerry Bold 9700/Onyx, which will ship with an Amazon MP3
application, is presently scheduled to drop on the network before the
end of the year – though nothing more specific in terms of dates
have been provided.
