Buffalo HD-PVU2 Portable Hard Drives 250GB & 500GB Capacity External HDDs Boasting Ultra Slim Design

Following on from our heads up yesterday concerning OWC's new 750GB
Mercury On-The-Go Pro external hard drive Buffalo have announced a new
range of external hard disks that sport particularly slim-line, thus
highly portable designs – making them ideal travelling companions
– which are set to release initially in both 250GB and 500GB
capacity variants.

Limited to just USB 2.0 connectivity, so somewhat more restricted in
terms of connectivity than the aforementioned OWC external drives (which
offer USB 2.0 and FireWire ports), the newly announced Buffalo HD-PVU2
portable hard drives, which measure in at a decidedly sleek 81 x 130 x
16mm (so barley larger than an un-housed 2.5 HDD unit), come with
scratch resistant bodies set to be offered in black or white (no signs
of a pink one just yet) and, thanks to drawing all their power
requirements from the universal serial bus, come sans cables –
which again underpins their particular suitability for use 'on the road'.

The new 250GB and 500GB capacity Buffalo HD-PVU2 portable hard drives,
which are compatible with both Windows (2000/XP/Vista/7) and Mac (OS X
10.4+) operating systems and are set to retail for around $112 and $164
respectively with a Japanese release set for late September/early October.
