Garmin Nuvi 1690 Manual Shows Off at the FCC Garmin Nuvi 1690 Connected GPS Unit Details

Garmin is tackling the connected GPS units with its latest Nuvi 1690.
But we already knew that. What we didn't know was that the guys have
just forwarded the Garmin Nuvi 1690 manual to the FCC and the folks over
at GPStracklog laid their eyes on the contents, and you too can check
out the FCC website for more info (note: pdf file).

Meant as a high-end GPS unit, the new Garmin Nuvi 1690 will be powered
by a built-in cellular modem, features lane assist, junction view, live
traffic updates and temperature details. Along the same lines, the new
device will use an in-house service — the nuinfo service , that
allows users to find their information by using Google Local Search. It
also adds Bluetooth connectivity (in case you were after hands-free
calling).

We're not sure if these connected services will be free to use, but if
Garmin fails at this point we're considering smartphone apps to get the
job done.
