Synths are back and in a big way. What used to be the thing of 80s
alternative bands with questionable hair choices (a la Flock of
Seagulls) has now found its way into the musical lexicon of a new
generation. With their ability to generate a near infinite array of
sounds, synthesizers not only add complexity and texture to music, but
they're damn fun to play. Korg, one of the industry's leading innovators
in keyboards and synths has just expanded its micro line of portable
synthesizers with the microKORG XL.
The microKORG XL synth with vocoder (MKXL) offers a tasty slew of
features that will have both the seasoned vets and newbies itching to
get their digits on it. This little baby sports a 37-note

technology. Along with an ergonomic interface (at last, fewer
keyboard-related injuries) and lightweight and portable outfit, the MKXL
employs full eight-voice, multi-modeling technology, a 16-band vocoder,
on-the-fly parameter editing and USB MIDI connectivity. Here are some
more tasty tidbits. Let the digital drooling commence.
