Info Leaked on Intel Core i5 750, i7 860 and 870 chips New Chips Include New eight-Thread 800 Sub-Series

Rumor has it that Intel is hard at work on its next round of chips and
the info has already made its way to the masses. The word on the street
is that there are three new chips under development for release sometime
in the first quarter of 2010. Two of the chips will fall under the
existing Core i7 line, but there is also a new 800 sub-series that is
slated to include the 2.8GHz 860 and the 2.93GHz 870. These two chips
are expected to employ Lynnfield architecture and will be built around
four cores and eight threads.

The third CPU, one of the first Core i5 models will be the 2.66Ghz 750.
This particular CPU will feature a lower clock speed (the model is
reduced to four threads) and is therefore unable to handle simultaneous
multithreading. Isn't that a bummer? All three processors are said to
have a TDP (thermal design power) rating of 95W.

As if this weren't enough, Intel is also said to be working on
lower-power versions of the i5 and i7 models, the former of which should
run at 82W. The i7s are expected in the first quarter of 2010 and should
include both the 2.4GHz 750S and the 2.53GHz 860S.
