Unless you've been under a rock for the past decade, you know that there
are practically hundreds of models of iPod docking stations on the
market. You have your alarm clock docking stations, your full-sized
stereo docking stations, your car docking stations and your portable
boom box docking stations. They are pretty much identical in function
(docking, recharging, AM/FM radio, yadda, yadda, yadda) and most are
available in the typically creative colors of black and white. So what's
an iPod dock-maker supposed to do to differentiate themselves amongst
the masses? How about offering them in more than one color? That's just
what iLive has decided to do with their latest iPod boom box Portable
Music System.
The iLive Portable Music System is basically an iPod dock in the guise
of a curvy portable package. It's an updated version of the last iLive
portable iPod dock and it has all of the requisite features including
compatibility with all of the iPod models as well as the ability to
actually play and charge them. It even throws in the AM/FM feature for
good measure. So why care? I guess if you're into coordinating your iPod
nano with your docking station you might. You see, the iLive Boom Box
comes in actual colors. Actually, you can get it in five different
colors and don't worry, they have black and white.
The latest offering from iLive isn't terribly impressive. It offers a
basic set of features with the added option of being able to choose from
more than two colors. Its rather feminine look might steer most guys
clear, but its price tag won't leave you reeling. The iLive Portable
Music System is available now with a retail price of around $40.
