station, the Sony NAS-Z200iR, that, thanks to coming with Wi-Fi
connectivity and being a DLNA certified device, not only serves as a
'traditional' iPod dock but also offers wireless audio streaming
capabilities when hooked up to your PC via your home network.
The Sony NAS-Z200iR, which Sony bill as offering 'a seamless music
listening experience' comes with bundled remote boasting a built-in 3.5
color LCD display which makes selecting music tracks stored on your
iPod a breeze thanks to offering artist, album and song selection and,
whilst the remote is rechargeable, its good to know that, when not in
use, the built-in display will power down to negate needcless battery drain.
Of course, as well as serving as a standard iPod dock, the Wi-Fi enabled
Sony NAS-Z200iR, which also comes with onboard CD player supporting CD,
CD-R/RW and MP3 audio, will not only put tracks stored on your iPod at
your fingertips but will also allow you to access your audio library
stored on your PC - consequently streaming audio regardless of where you
are in the house (though, interestingly, Sony have not indicated
wireless range). Oh, and if you're looking for yet more source options,
the Sony NAS-Z200iR additionally comes with a line-in port as well as
USB connectivity allowing you to hook up DAPs and PMPs (inclusive of
Walkman's, naturally). Still not enough? How about factoring in access
to internet based radio broadcasts? Certainly it seems that the Sony
NAS-Z200iR pretty much has all bases covered in terms of audio
entertainment.
The Sony NAS-Z200iR Wi-Fi enabled iPod dock/audio streamer/internet
radio/CD player (ok, just the NAS-Z200iR to you and me), which comes
with 2 x 20W speakers - and which, incidentally, can be either desk
based or, thanks to a VESA wall bracket, wall mounted - is set to hit
Europe from mid September though as yet Sony are keeping their lips
sealed concerning its pricing.
