Logitech to Update Squeezebox with Squeezebox Touch Wi-Fi Media & Entertainment Hub

Whilst Logitech are yet to offer official confirmation it appears that
they are about to offer an updated Squeezebox in the form of the
Squeezebox Touch which comes with color, captive touchscreen display and
which, thanks to Wi-Fi connectivity, will serve as a wireless media hub
capable of streaming audio files to audio setups (such as Hi-fis and
home theatre systems) as well as offering access to internet radio
stations via your home network.

Sporting a 4.3 24-bit color captive touchscreen, the Logitech
Squeezebox Touch is said to offer MP3, FLAC, WAV, AIFF, WMA, Ogg Vorbis,
AAC, Apple Lossless, WMA Lossless, APE and MPC file format compatibility
as well as offering support for MP3, Ogg, and WMA internet radio streams
whilst also offering USB connectivity allowing you to play digital music
and view digital photos directly via USB flash drives whilst, in terms
of output, RCA stereo, digital coax and digital optical outputs are
taken care of as well as a headphone jack.

In terms of network support the Logitech Squeezebox Touch is said to
offer true 802.11g wireless connectivity (curiously no word concerning
Draft-N support at this juncture) as well as 802.11b and 802.11g wired
router support courtesy of an integrated Ethernet port with WPA
Personal, WPA-2AES, and 64/128-bit WEP encryption ensuring network security.

There's no word from Logitech as at the time of writing concerning the
Squeezebox Touch's envisaged availability, however, pricing is expected
to come in at around $300.

The moment Logitech offer an official release concerning the Squeezebox
Touch we will, of course, bring you an update (as well as better imagery).
