content, Vudu's cunningly entitled Vudu BX100 and Vudu XL set top boxes
(okay, their titles not at all cunning on reflection) grant you access
to 1100 moves and growing both in 1080p HD and standard definition
(which both the Vudu BX100 and the Vudu XL will duly upscale) all with
the convenience offered by a compact set top digital box that streams
movies directly via the net from Vudu's extensive and ever growing
library of titles according to your wishes and movie watching tastes.
The Vudu BX100 (featured) and the Vudu XL come with a 250GB and 1TB HDD
respectively whilst both offer Dolby Digital Plus and Dolby Digital 5.1
audio and HDMI, Component,ย S-Video and Composite video outputs and
will happily stream both regular and HD content - depending on your
internet connection speeds (4Mbps required for HD, 2Mbps required for SD).
Movies will set you back between $4 and $6 (HD and HDX formats) - the
Vudu service is subscription free - whilst the new Vudu BX100 STB will
set you back around $300 (though with Best Buy's current $200 on account
credit this effectively becomes a mere $100), whilst the Vudu XL will
set you back up to around $1000.
