Tomy xiao TIP-521 Digital Camera which, thanks to including an
integrated ZINK printer, allows uses to print directly from the camera
without having to hook the device up to a separate printer but, it you
live in the US and cannot wait for the xiao TIP-521's release there (no
confirmation that a US release will indeed occur, but we suspect it
might) and you happen to be aching for an instamatic camera, perhaps
Fujifilm's Instax 200 instant film 'instamatic' camera will suffice in
the meantime (though its somewhat of a lower-tech affair).
The Fujifilm Instax 200 'instamatic' camera has actually been available
in both Europe and Asia for some considerable time now (years in fact),
however, for some unknown reason Fujifilm have appeared reluctant to
offer it in the US, but that's about to change with the news that
Fujifilm will be shipping its Instax 200 camera in the US from late
December as well, of course, as the Instax Instant Color Film the camera
uses.
'In recent months, as availability of instant film has dwindled, we've
received inquiries from customers in a range of markets here in the U.S.
including health care, law enforcement, insurance, real estate, and
others, who really need to continue using a traditional instant film
solution, said Christian Fridholm, vice president of marketing,
consumables, Imaging Division, Fujifilm U.S.A, who announced the up and
coming availability of the Fujifilm Instax 200 camera in the US.
“We believe that people familiar with instant photography, but who
are new to the Fujifilm Instax brand, will be impressed with the
intuitive design of the Instax 200, and will be especially pleased with
the vivid colors and bright whites delivered by our Instax Instant Color
Film.'
The Fujifilm Instax 200 camera comes with LCD control panel 'displaying
focal distance and film count', a 1/64-1/200 sec electronic shutter,
automatic flash and two (yes two) shooting modes - namely 0.9-3m and
3m-infinity - whilst, in terms of output, you're looking at 3.90'x2.44'
sized color prints thanks to the ISO 800 Instax Instant Color Film.
The Fujifilm Instax 200 'instamatic' camera will purportedly retail for
around $70 whilst a pack of Instax Instant Color Film, offering 20
exposures (double than offered by the yesteryear instamatics from
Polaroid), will set you back just shy of $29 a pop.
