New MSI GX620 & GX720 Centrino 2 Gaming Laptops Specifications Detailed

Whilst MSI's up and coming GX620 and GX720 gaming laptops have already
been seen in the wild, specifically at this years CeBIT, MSI have, up
until now, been rather tight lipped concerning quite what their new
gaming laptops will have to offer in terms of specifications but, thanks
to the official product pages for both the GX620 and GX720 having just
gone live we can at last hone in on the finer detail. To put it in a
nutshell, the GX620 and GX720, which offer 15.4' and 17' 1680 x 1050
resolution WSXGA+ displays and come with 2.4GHz and 2.53GHz Intel Penryn
Core 2 Duo P8600/P8600 CPUs respectively, as well as Nvidia GeForce
9600M GT 512MB GPUs, Dolby 7.1 surround sound, up to 4GB of DDR2 RAM and
320GB SATA HDDs whilst a Blu-ray drive is an optional extra.Naturally
both the GX620 and GX720 come with Bluetooth, gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, a
4-in-1 card reader and HDMI inputs and (increasingly a stock addition
these days) a 2 megapixel integrated webcam whilst both also feature
MSI's exclusive Turbo Drive Engine technology which, in MSI's words,
'allows user's to overclock the GX620/GX720, increasing the speed of the
Intel Core 2 Duo processor by as much as 15%'. Additionally both laptops
also come with MSI's ECO Engine technology which 'allows users to
alternate between 5 different operating modes to conserve battery life'
which is certainly an interesting addition to what are billed
specifically as gaming laptops. No word as yet concerning either
availability or pricing but, what with the official product pages
already being live its not unreasonable to speculate that MSI's GX620
and GX720 gaming laptops could start shipping any day (though we're
inclined to think a September release is probably scheduled).
