Ultra Portable hard disk drive based media center which 'provides the
joy of watching your favorite videos, movies, music and family photos on
your TV or home-theater projector' courtesy of a pocket sized, easily
transportable device - though the actual HDD required for storage of
your media files will have to be purchased separately from the device
itself.
Described as 'a hybrid functionality of a Hard-Drive Enclosure and
Multimedia Player', Mvix's MV-2500U supports 2.5″ P-ATA / IDE hard
disk drives up to a maximum 250GB+ and works, in practice, just like any
other external USB hard drive allowing you to drag and drop content to
the unit directly from your PC and subsequently hook up the MV-2500U to,
in the case of video content, a HDTV - with the unit providing up to
1080p decoding of video internally.
Apart from supporting MPEG1/2/4, DVD (VOB, IFO), DivX, XviD, BivX and
VCD (DAT) video file formats Mvix's MV-2500U also offers digital audio
support - AC3, MP2, MP3, WMA, OGG and M3U audio - and JPEG
compatibility, allowing the unit to store and view your digital imagery.

* Interestingly, we note that the official specifications as at the time
of writing, and as detailed in part above, detail an LCD display though,
curiously, the product images show no evidence of the unit having any
display whatsoever. Perhaps someone from Mvix could either offer some
clarification here or amend the specifications on their own site to
reflect the seemingly obvious lack of display.
Billed as being 'a comprehensive 4-in-1, versatile video or music
player for your car, RV, or even boats' (perhaps they should have
included 'your home' in there somewhere) the Mvix MV-2500U Multimedia
Center, supplied complete with remote, will set you back around $150 -
though we should stress that, as detailed above, you'll also have to
factor in the cost of a HDD should you be considering purchasing the
MV-2500U as it comes sans hard drive.
