XPS 730 premier gaming towers but now, only twelve days after Dell
touted their new, updated XPS 730 performance gaming PCs as offering 'a
truly kick-ass gaming experience' it seems that their days are numbered
as, according to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Dell is
purportedly set to drop its entire XPS gaming PC range.
Whilst it will be interesting to see quite how those that have just
splashed out considerable cash for a new XPS gaming system will be
catered for once the line is dropped, Dell's move will not mean the
death of all XPS systems as only the performance gaming rigs will cease
to be - Dells popular XPS notebooks, for example, are to the spared the axe.
In truth, however, whilst owners of new the brand new, updated XPS 730
gaming systems in particular may well feel a little - and somewhat
understandably - aggrieved if the WSJ's report is to be believed (and
there's no reason as to why it shouldn't) then some sollice can be taken
in the fact that this will not mark the end of Dell's relationship with
PC gamers as Alienware, who were picked up by Dell a couple of years
ago, will consequently be responsible for producing all gaming
platforms. And, as anyone who has ever had an experience of an Alienware
rig will tell you, that's no bad thing - though the fact that Dell and
Alienware, as a result, will be tied together all the more may not be
quite as warmly welcomed by the hardcore elite of Alienware fanboys.
