Pocket Video Camcorder following the Vado having been listed by an
online retailer some weeks ago and, very much as expected - just like
Pure Video's Flip camcorder - the device appears to be aimed squarely at
those looking to produce and upload video content to both YouTube and
blogs as well as those looking for a decidedly budget-priced video
capture device.
Introduced by Mark Grover, European Brand Manager with Creative, who
describes the Vado as being 'always there, ready to capture those
once-in-a-lifetime moments that just happen when you least expect them'
Creative's Vado has undoubtedly been designed to compete directly
against (specifically) Pure Video's Flip Video Ultra model in offering
2GB of onboard storage capacity and 640 x 480 VGA resolution video
recording in MPEG-4 format at 30fps courtesy of a device that, in part
thanks to its extreme simplicity, is both easy to use, cheap and
decidedly 'pocketable'.
Naturally, Creative's Vado comes with integrated USB connector (as well
as TV output capabilities via an optional AV cable) making hooking the
device up to a PC a positive breeze and, apart from sporting 2X digital
zoom (not especially worth noting) also boasts a 2' LCD screen for
framing your masterpieces and playing back captured video, with an
integrated microphone and speaker taking care of the audio element.
Measuring in at 3.9'(H) x 2.2'(W) x 0.6'(D), weighing in at 84g and
billed as offering up to 2 hours of VGA quality recording based on a
full charge and the storage capacity available (a lesser quality
recording mode is a available which will serve to extend recording
endurance up to 120 minutes) Creative's Vado is available in silver or
pink for a snip under that all important $100 price point.
