New Sigma DP1 14 Megapixel Digital Camera Fills Gap Between Traditional Compacts and Digital SLRs

Sigma are set to announce their new DP1 digital camera - a device that
sits between standard compact digital cameras and DSLRs - that boasts a
not unimpressive 14 megapixel resolution as well as three layer silicon
technology and the ability to capture imagery in X3F formatted RAW format.

Due to be become available sometime this spring for a price yet to be
qualified, Sigma's DP1, which sits somewhat comfortably between
traditional compact digital cameras and full blown digital SLR camera,
sports a Foveon sensor capable of 14 megapixel resolution captures in
both JPEG and X3F formatted RAW format as well as three layer silicon
technology that defined each portion of RGB images in a single pixel
(instead of three).

Relying on SD or SDHC for storage, other notable features include nine
point auto focus and in integral pop-up flash that's supplemented by the
