VoIP usage in the form of their new ClearChat PC Wireless Headset which,
according to Logitech's official press release, takes stereo wireless PC
headsets to the next level in terms of sound quality thanks to laser
tuned audio units and 2.4GHz connectivity.
Logitech's new ClearChat PC Wireless Headset offers a reported range of
up to 33ft / 10m from the headset's USB based transmitter which,
according to Logitech, connects to a PC or Mac computer right out of the
box (though we suspect that, rather connecting itself, you may actually
have to get involved in the proceedings - Logitech are good, but not
that good). Additionally, the ClearChat PC Wireless Headset's microphone
not only offers noise-cancelling but also automatic muting when rotated
to an upright position with an integrated LED that glows red indicating
when the mic is muted, thus saving you from talking to yourself for hours.
Naturally, apart from working with VoIP applications such as Skype,
Windows Live, Aim et al, Logitech also emphasise that their ClearChat PC
Wireless Headset can, in somewhat of a shock revelation, also be used
for online gaming and even listening to music (yes, I know, it's a crazy
idea) which, whilst not wishing to take any credit away from Logitech,
and unless we're very much mistaken, is very much in keeping with
people's general preconceptions as to what headphones generally tend to
offer.
Logitech's new ClearChat PC Wireless Headset is due to become available
in May (though its already listed on the Logitech UK site) and will
retail for around pound sterling70 / $100.
