LaCie Little Disk Highly Portable Designer External Hard Disk Drive

Having only yesterday posted about the vogue wars that seem to be raging
between numerous manufactures concerning external hard disk drive
design, we have yet another example to serve as evidence supporting our
assertion that external hard disk drives are, it would seem, becoming
the latest fashion accessories in the form of LaCie's tiny Little Disk
external hard drive unit.

According to LaCie's official product page, the Little Disk external
hard disk drive boasts dimensions comparable to that of a lighter which,
having looked at our own lighter, we can only assume refers to Zippo
lighters in particular - as our lighter is somewhat smaller - though
there's no doubting that LaCie's Little Disk is extremely diminutive in
proportions in measuring in at a mere 2.64 x 1.69 x .67 in. / 67 x 43 x
17 mm.

Designed by Sam Hecht and compatible with PCs and Macs, the Little Disk,
despite its tiny form, manages to pack in a not inconsiderable 30GB or
40GB of storage (dependant on the model) with integral 2MB of cache
offering a burst transfer rates of up to 28-30MB/s and an interface
transfer rates of up to 480Mbits per second - all in a device that is
small enough to fit snugly into your back pocket.

Bundled with LaCie's Synchronization & Encryption Software (Windows
only), '�1-Click' Backup Software (Windows/Mac) and LaCie's SilverKeeper
Backup Software (Mac only) and complete with a snazzy carrying case,
LaCie's 30GB/40GB Little Disk external hard disk drives retail for $130
and $160 respectively.

It seems that we’re rapidly developing somewhat of a fixation for
LaCie’s products of late here on TFTS - and, with products as
stunningly beautiful as this, who can blame us (I wonder if they do
branded t-shirts in my size?).
