Announcing New Mail in Outlook Express

A few users have asked if you can get Outlook Express to aanounce new mail like its bigger cousin, Outlook. Unfortunately, you can't really.What you can do is let Outlook Express run all the time and have it periodically check for new mail.
To do this, run Outlook Express and choose ToolsOptions. When the dialog box opens, click the General tab. Select the check box labeled "Check for new messages every ___" and set the time interval you'd like to use. Click OK to close the dialog box. For this to work, you'll have to leave Outlook Express running all the time.
