features like super-sharp pictures and integrated tuners. Some even come
with multi-card readers and built-in wireless. But there is one thing
that I think we can all agree on and that's the fact that most HDTVs
have average speakers. To help remedy this, the sound engineers at
Germany's Lautsprecher Teufel have just announced the release of their
new Cinebar 50 flatscreen sound system.
The Cinebar 50 is basically a two-piece sound system consisting of a
slim speaker bar and an external subwoofer. There are six individual
chassis in the main unit, which house the entire control and connector
mechanisms, as well as an amplifier featuring 2 x 100-watt RMS power.
The subwoofer uses its own amplifier to supply the bass-hungry 250-mm
chassis with an additional 150-watt RMS. Touted as a complete all-in-one
system, the Cinebar 50 offers a virtual surround-sound system capable of
DVD, Blu-ray, satellite/premiere/DVB-T-decoder playback in stereo or
spatial sound all thanks to the Dolby virtual speaker technology.
The Teufel Cinebar 50 also includes a remote control and comes with two
brackets located at the back of the speaker that can be used to mount
the unit directly to the wall. A table stand is also included in the
package. The Cinebar 50 retails for 669EUR (about $950) and will be
available for shipment sometime at the end of July. For more information
