to be release in the US on T-Mobile and in the UK on Vodafone sooner
than expected. Aimed at first-time smartphone buyers, the non-3G
BlackBerry Curve 8520 loses the traditional trackball in a RIM handset
in favor to a touch-sensitive trackpad, features a 2.64-inch TFT display
with 320 x 240 resolution and a 2 megapixel camera with video recording
mode.
The BlackBerry Curve 8520 also comes packed with a full hardware QWERTY
keyboard, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g and Bluetooth v2.0 + EDR, a microSD card slot
and a 3.5mm headphone jack. However, along with BlackBerry's renowned
push email, the most interesting feature that has just been revealed is
that Curve 8520 is going to features out of the box Mac compatibility
— which means that you'll get to sync contacts, calendars and
notes by using the BlackBerry Desktop Software and one of Apple's computers.
BlackBerry Curve 8520 is going to be available starting from August 5th,
on T-Mobile US at $129.99 with a two year contract and on Vodafone UK
for free if you go for a 25 GBP monthly data plan. The pre-pay version
should rope in close to 150 GBP (some $250).
